![]() In such a case you can use a polyfill for the Crypto.randomUUID method. It could be possible that the browser your user is using might not have support for the Crypto API. What if crypto.getrandomvalues() is not supported by the browser?Īs I mentioned earlier, currently only the modern and latest versions of the browsers have an inbuilt support of the Crypto.randomUUID() method. For production level apps where you might need better support across browsers and more features, I would suggest that the UUID npm package might be a better option to consider. Either one of the above methods are good enough. Well to be frank there is no need of a different way to generate UUID for React or Angular app. How to Generate UUID in React or Angular? What is a UUID in JavaScript?Ī UUID is a Universally Unique Identifier which is also known as GUID or Globally Unique Identifier. ![]() Since these IDs are generated on the front end, I didn't want to use a dedicated ID library to achieve it. The record label's sales executives didn't want a painting on the cover when Time Out debuted in 1959 on Columbia Records, Brubeck told an interviewer. This jacket is a beauty! Never has Time Out's colorful iconic cover art looked so vibrant. It's produced for us by Stoughton Printing featuring a printed wrap mounted to a heavyweight chipboard shell, producing an authentic "old school" look and feel. Including the monster hit "Take Five," the Brubeck Quartet's Time Out is a jazz and audiophile classic. Having heard many, many Pallas and RTI pressings, the main competition for QRP, I would say that QRP pressings combine the strengths of both its competitors: the very low surface noise and bottom-of-the-groove quiet of Pallas LPs and the sharp delineation of musical detail of RTI." - Sound = 4.5/5 Music = 5/5 - Marc Mickelson, The Audio Beat, August 2012 It's a positive sign when the noise floor is defined by the hiss of the master tape, not the quality of the pressing or vinyl, and that's the case here. However, this current pressing is so much better than those that came before it, which were certainly very good, that it's obvious things have improved considerably over the past year. Before Time Out, I would have said that some positive trends were apparent from the earlier LPs I've heard. “I've now heard a number of LPs from Quality Record Pressings (QRP), Chad Kassem's year-and-a-half-old record-pressing plant. The Great Helm, 12 th to 14 th centuries: How can you not love a helmet that has "great" in the name? And these helmets are, without doubt, great. And the Sutton Hoo helmet, although it has more in common with a Roman Cavalry helmet, is "spangenhelmish." Which, in German, means, "Pretty please buy Volkswagons." Some Viking helmets came down from this family tree. But, seriously, this is an ancient type of helmet. Variations of this type of helmet go all the way back to the first century A.D., but only a very few are capable of this sort of time-travel. They usually have cheek pieces and can be highly decorated, sometimes have face masks, and occasionally have chain mail aventails that protect the back of the neck. These are the helmets you typically see in movies when the time period is somewhere between the fall of the Roman Empire and the start of the Norman conquest. Spangenhelm is German for "Please buy Volkswagens." These types of helmets were usually a bit conical (pointy toward the top). Why do frog's mouth helms have such a goofy name? Could you really cook in a kettle helm? What's so great about a great helm? Well, I'm here to tell you! I'm going to go through each of the helms in Chronological order. There is a lot of confusion about the different helmet types. Of course I'm talking about my favorite piece of medieval armor-the helmet Unlike zombies, Medieval and Renaissance warriors were aware of this weakness, and they tended to encase their heads in metal (and I'm not talking about the golden crown that Khal Drogo gave to Viserys, for you Game of Thrones fans). ![]() ![]() (Easy fix: change the wireless channel your own router uses. This type of impact on network strength can also occur in closely grouped single-family homes and townhouses. When each residence has its own WiFi network and neighbors use the same wireless channel, there is often interference. If you are in an apartment, overlapping WiFi networks could be to blame. Small household devices as varied as baby monitors, wireless sound systems, microwave ovens, baby monitors and old cordless phones actually can interfere with router signals. Maybe that crazy old uncle was onto something when we accused the microwave of futzing with the TV and the phone. And if your place covers multiple stories, the combination of distance from the router and the materials in the floors and ceilings between the router and your device will cause dead zones.įrom that massive credenza that you scored at that sample sale to the metal shelves you use to house your collection of design books, large pieces of furniture like metal desks, solid wood slabs, and other barriers can prevent your WiFi signal from passing. The average router can only broadcast the WiFi signal so far, so with a sprawling, spread-out house, you will experience a weaker signal the farther you get from the router and possibly be unable to detect any signal at all at the farthest points. Concrete and brick are other materials that can block radio waves. Some old homes with walls made of plaster often have metal supports (sometimes made of chicken wire!) that can prevent your router’s signal from reaching your device. It turns out, the more solidly your home is built, the more likely the interior walls are blocking your WiFi signal. The farther from the router, the weaker the signal, even without any other interference. ![]() If that’s the case, the signal ends up being generated far from where you actually use the Internet. Without a mesh network to efficiently rebroadcast the signal so that it reaches around corners and other obstacles, your home’s dead zones may be due to some things that may surprise you.Ī lot of people just leave their router where the connecting wires come into the house. It turns out that because WiFi signals are radio waves, a variety of elements can obstruct them or interfere with them. Have you ever wondered what the deal is in your home? What makes some parts of the house great for web surfing and others totally frustrating? And why do the dead zones sometimes change? Anyone who has found themselves standing in the kitchen for a video conference, because it’s the only place they can depend on an hourlong solid connection, knows that WiFi isn’t always reliable. Who hasn’t been in their bedroom trying to watch a short video on social media before bed, and encountered frustrating buffering? It’s almost midnight, so you just know it can’t be mere bandwidth issues. And just like we’ve grown accustomed to lights coming on at the flip of a switch and clean water readily flowing from our faucets, we want to be able to count on our internet connection whenever and wherever we need it in the house. In today’s world, the reliability of your home WiFi network can feel as crucial as running water and electricity. ![]() ![]() The ClearlyDefined project aims to address this challenge by inviting developers across different organizations to crowdsource a global database of licensing metadata for every software component ever published. The issue of unlicensed components is a community-wide challenge that needs a community-wide approach. Additionally, it helps developers to keep track of components that might have vulnerabilities. It not only facilitates collaboration but also ensures legal compliance and protects the intellectual property of contributors. Developers, organizations, and the community at large benefit from clear and standardized licensing. ![]() The Need for Clarity and StandardizationĪddressing the issue of unlicensed components is crucial for the continued health of the Open Source community. The Challenge of Unlicensed Componentsĭespite the prevalence of well-established licenses, a concerning revelation emerges from the ClearlyDefined dataset – a substantial percentage of Open Source components lack a designated license or carry the SPDX identifier “NOASSERTION.” This ambiguity introduces uncertainty about the permissible use of such components, potentially hindering collaboration, creating legal complexities, and security concerns for developers. The GNU General Public License ( GPL), embodying the ethos of free software, enjoys a presence but falls behind MIT and Apache 2.0. BSD licenses, both 3-Clause and 2-Clause, maintain a steady but comparatively lower adoption rate. The ISC license, with its simplicity and permissiveness, finds its niche in the JavaScript community. For instance, the JavaScript community often leans towards the MIT license, while Python developers show a similar affinity for Apache 2.0. Each programming language has its own set of license preferences within their ecosystems. The license terrain is not uniform across all package managers. The simplicity of these licenses, allowing users to modify and distribute code with minimal restrictions without imposing additional requirements, has undoubtedly contributed to their widespread adoption. Overall, MIT and Apache 2.0 are by far the most popular licenses, although popularity of licenses vary greatly depending on the package manager. ClearlyDefined is a collaborative project providing comprehensive and standardized metadata about software components’ origins and licenses, its data shed light on the prevailing trends that shape the Open Source ecosystem. ![]() Using data from OSI’s community project ClearlyDefined, Aleksandrs Volodjkins explored the ClearlyDefined dataset from September 21, 2023. ![]() While many developers know that Open Source software forms the backbone of modern development, the data shows that much of their software is shared (and most likely also used) without a license. I’ve been using Photoshop on my PC for drawing, photo editing, and professional work for the past six years and when I finally got an iPad with Apple Pencil support I was really hoping Procreate or one of the numerous other drawing/editing apps would be able to replace the feel of PS. I have NEVER left a review on an app before (and I’ve been an IOS user since the first ever iPod came out), but ArtStudio is just too good not to leave a review for. I have tried troubleshooting it in every possible way, but it’s apparently something I can’t fix. In addition, when attempt to select the gradient itself to make manual changes to the hues or adjust scale, it’s not showing the different hue containers, midpoints, or opacity adjustments. I tried selecting several different ones including the spectrums, and the basic ones as well. However, once that menu is closed and the view controller comes back to the primary gradient overlay menu (opacity, blend mode, etc), the gradient you thought you selected has not applied. The menus and view controllers are still behaving as expected they still allow a user to select a different gradient. When the gradient overlay effect is enabled, the app is suddenly not allowing a different gradient (other than the default white-black) to be selected.
